Our Mission

From the Ferns Inc is organized exclusively to protect and preserve the environment by conserving natural habitats and promoting nature beauty. We focus on wildlife rehabilitation, rehabilitating wild animals and rescuing exotic pets, while prioritizing education and awareness in New York. Our commitment to fostering a sustainable future is reflected through compassionate animal care, community engagement, and educational initiatives that inspire responsible stewardship of our planet and all its inhabitants.

Welcome to From the Ferns

Who we are:  Our mission is to protect and preserve the environment by safeguarding natural habitats, rehabilitating wild animals, and rescuing exotic pets. By prioritizing education and awareness, we are dedicated to fostering a sustainable future through compassionate animal care, community engagement, and educational initiatives that inspire responsible stewardship of our planet and all its inhabitants.  Our goals for 2026:  2025 has been a momentous year for us. We were officially founded in July, and recently we received our 501c3 certification and charitable status. We have continued to grow quicker than we could have ever imagined; however, our aspirations are far greater than just wildlife rehabilitation. In 2026, we will find a more permanent facility, thus enabling us to provide the best possible care to wildlife and continue to grow so we can better serve our New York community. Our absolute top priority is ensuring that every animal we interact with receives the highest possible standard of care. We will achieve this by continued education for our rehabilitators through independent classes offered by the IWRC. We will also grow partnerships with local veterinary clinics and other wildlife rehabilitation organizations. We have several community events planned, including clean-up hikes, monarch waystation information, and hummingbird garden set-ups, all with the help of local businesses. Plus, we have some exciting community service ideas in the works that will hopefully be announced very soon.  How you can help us achieve our goals:  One of our top priorities as an organization is transparency. We are currently a 100% volunteer-based organization, so all funds donated will go directly to animal care and helping us increase our reach and effectiveness. We are setting up an Amazon wishlist for those who would rather donate products directly and would always be super grateful to receive items such as old fish tanks, towels, animal enclosures, and anything else that will help us aid more animals. Any wildlife rehabilitators, please reach out to us if you are interested in joining our team. With the help of the community, we hope to achieve incredible things for local wildlife and pet owners alike. With their generosity, we will continue to grow and offer more conservation services, but we cannot do it without your help!

Glenn Foster M.P.A. is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and one of the three Executive Chairs of From the Ferns Inc., a wildlife rehabilitation and conservation nonprofit organization committed to the health and well-being of animals native to New York. After serving four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, including two tours in Iraq, Glenn shifted his focus to helping his local community. He later dedicated his efforts to wildlife conservation after witnessing the decline of native animal populations due to preventable reasons. As COO, Glenn provides daily operations reports to the board and manages logistics for the nonprofit. As a licensed animal care and wildlife rehabilitator, Glenn plays a crucial role in the caring, rescuing, and releasing of animals once they are deemed physically and mentally ready to return to their natural habitats, preserving the nature beauty of New York.
